Health and Safety Policy

Policy Statement

The Creative Club recognises its duty of care to ensure the health, safety and welfare for everyone involved.  Demonstrating compliance with relevant legislations.

General Health and Safety Standards

Safe Environment: Our classrooms are regularly cleaned and maintained to ensure a hygienic and safe space for all participants. All art materials and tools are carefully selected for their safety and suitability for the students' age and skill level.

Supervision: Students are always supervised by qualified teachers, ensuring safe and effective instruction.

Photos: Photos of students may be taken during classes, events, or activities to document their artistic progress and to help keep caregivers informed.  Written consent is required at the time of registration, and either preference will be respected.

Medical

First Aid: We have appropriate first-aid kits on-site, and in the event of an injury, the instructor will provide immediate care and inform the caregiver.

Reporting Injuries: Teachers have the responsibility to document and report to the caregiver all incidents, and near misses for the purpose of investigation and/or prevention. No task is so important that it will put any person’s safety at risk.

Disclosure of Health Conditions: Caregivers are required to inform us of any pre-existing medical conditions, allergies, or other health concerns that may impact their child’s participation in class. This information will be kept confidential and used solely to ensure the student’s safety.

Allergy Awareness: If a student has any food or material allergies, this must be disclosed during registration. We will make reasonable accommodations to avoid any potential exposure.

Drop - off and Pick – Up Protocol

Drop - Off and Pick-Up: Caregivers are responsible for dropping off and picking up their child at the designated class times. If a student is not picked up within 10 minutes after the class ends, the caregiver will be contacted. In the event the caregiver and/or the emergency contact can’t be reached, and we are concerned for the child’s safety, the appropriate authorities will be notified.

Attendance and Absences: Caregivers need to inform us about foreseeable absence or late arrivals. If a lesson is missed, we can arrange a make-up session, subject to availability.

Authorized Pick-Up: Only authorized individuals can pick up the student. Caregivers should notify us if someone other than themselves will be collecting their child.

Emergency Response

Updates and Communication: Caregivers should inform us immediately of any changes to their child’s health status, emergency contacts, or other important details that may affect the child’s safety and well-being during class.

Fire Safety:  Classrooms are equipped with fire alarms, and clear exit routes. In the event of an evacuation students will be escorted to the assembly point located at Rhodes Foreshore Park. Caregiver will be notified.
